A good cry … Most people try not to cry too much in public. Sure, it’s expected at funerals and even weddings. But lots of people cry in lots of places. For example:
- 62% have cried in their car. 47% of men and 76% of women cop to it.
- 38% have cried at school – 30% of men and 47% of women.
- 28% have cried at the doctor’s office – 16% of men and 39% of women.
- 5% have cried at a sporting event, and that one breaks down pretty much evenly.
So what do we cry about? Obviously, the death of a loved one is the most likely answer. Number two is the death of a pet – 76% say they’d be likely to cry. 63% say chopping onions makes them cry. Surprisingly, just 52% say they’d likely cry due to physical pain. And 39% say listening to sad music would probably make them cry.
