Lightning Fall To Hurricanes

The Carolina Hurricanes (42-18-6) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (40-21-4) 4-2 on Saturday night at Benchmark International Arena in Tampa. For the Lightning it was their seventh loss in nine games.

The Hurricanes got on the board just thirty-six seconds into this game when Andrei Svechnikov scored. Sebastian Aho scored late in the first to make it 2-0 before the Lightning would answer.

Yanni Gourde and Charle-Edouard D'Astous both scored in the second period to make it a 2-2 game going into the final frame. In the third, Jordan Martinook scored what would prove to be the game winner at the 9:18 mark. Logan Stankoven added an empty-netter to make it a 4-2 final score.

Andrei Vasilevskiy took the loss in net, saving 31 of the 34 shots he faced. Frederik Anderson went 17-of-19 in net for Carolina to get the win.

The Lightning are next in action when they travel to Seattle to play the Kraken on Tuesday night. Puck drop between the Lightning and Kraken is scheduled for 10:00 PM on Tuesday in the Pacific Northwest.
