Snoop Dogg is facing backlash after he criticized LGBTQ+ representation in children's movies, per Newsweek.

During a recent appearance on the "It's Giving" podcast, Snoop recalled being "thrown for a loop" after taking his grandson to a screening of Disney's 2022 animated film Lightyear, which depicts a same-sex couple raising a child.

"Well, my grandson, in the middle of the movie is like, 'Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman? She's a woman!'" he said. "I'm like, scared to go to the movies. Y’all throwing me in the middle of s* that I don't have an answer for."**

“What you see is what you see, and they’re putting it everywhere,” Snoop continued. “I didn’t come in for this s*. I just came to watch the goddamn movie.”**

“It threw me for a loop... These are kids," the rapper added. "We have to show that at this age? They're going to ask questions. I don't have the answer.”

Snoop's comments sparked backlash across the globe, including in Australia, where he was set to perform at the Australian Football League (AFL) Grand Final. Calls to cancel the performance are growing in the wake of the AFL recently sanctioning Adelaide player Izak Rankine over a homophobic slur.

"If you're going to set certain standards, then people are going to raise questions... if you deviate those standards on a case-by-case basis," Australia’s Shadow Immigration Minister Paul Scarr said.

Snoop Dogg hasn't responded publicly to the controversy.
