Wu-Tang Clan is banding together once again with their trusted producer Mathematics for a brand-new album.
On Thursday, February 6, RZA's 36 Chambers announced plans for the iconic rap group's upcoming album Black Samson, The Bastard Swordsman. The next installment of the group's “Wu-Tang the Saga Continues…” collection is executive produced by Mathematics and will contain fresh music from all nine members. The 11-track album will also feature collaborations with Benny The Butcher, Nicole Bus, Kool G Rap, Kurupt, Ralph McDaniels of Run D.M.C., 38 Spesh, R.J. Payne and more. Fans can expect to hear the group's next LP this spring.
"Wu-Tang has always been about pushing boundaries—musically, artistically, and culturally," Mathematics said in a statement. "With ‘Black Samson, The Bastard Swordsman,’ I’m giving fans not just an album, but a piece of history—something truly one of a kind. This is more than music; it’s innovation, storytelling, and legacy all in one. I am excited for everyone to hear the music and see the artwork around this album.”
Black Samson, The Bastard Swordsman serves as the first album from Wu-Tang Clan since they released The Saga Continues in 2017. The album has 18 tracks featuring collaborations with Redman, Chris Rivers and the late Sean Price. Most of the group including Mathematics contributed to the project. Their upcoming LP will be the first time all nine members have joined forces for an album since they released A Better Tomorrow in 2014. Black Samson, The Bastard Swordsman is set to arrive in April on Record Store Day. To commemorate the new album, 36 Chambers and Ruffnation Entertainment teamed up with Macroverse to make 5,000 copies of an exclusive limited edition audiophile-grade 2LP vinyl album.
"The release of this album is a landmark event in the collectibles space," said Chris Schwartz, CEO of Ruffnation Entertainment. "The Mixprint variant cover art developed by the Macroverse Media team is the very first time in the Vinyl Record industry an album has been released with no two covers alike. Ruffnation and Studio 4 Vinyl are proud to work with Wu-Tang’s DJ Mathematics, The 36 Chambers organization, DNA Music Group, Macroverse, the Record Store Day organization and Virgin Music Group, who were all crucial in giving this project the time and energy to make its release a memorable event.”
