South Florida woman charged with twins’ deaths

Shirlene Napoleon Alcime 42, a South Florida mother charged with the death of her 3-year-old twins appeared in court on Friday and was ordered held without bond.

Alcime was arrested and booked on two counts of child neglect causing great bodily harm.

She appeared in court via video from a hospital bed.

The charge dates back a couple of weeks when her three-year-old children were found unresponsive in a van on the I-95 North ramp to the Turnpike Extension at the Golden Glades interchange. According to an arrest report, Alcime confessed to investigators that she had been plotting to kill the two children and herself for the prior two months because of financial issues and debt.

Alcime is due back in court on Feb. 20.

The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner has yet to determine the twins' cause of death.
