Chart-topping recording artist Kodak Black has stepped in to help a family in need. Recently, TMZ reported that the Florida native donated $20,000 to the family of Ft. Lauderdale Police Department Officer Jennifer Sepot. Spot tragically died of COVID-19 earlier this year, which prompted Kodak Black to step in to help out her 2-year-old daughter. According to a report from Complex, the $20,000 donation will support the young girl's higher education as she gets older.
“‘Make sure that kid is straight,’” Kodak Black reportedly told his attorney, Bradford Cohen.
"Pay for her college fund.”
The Fort Lauderdale Fraternal Order of Police did not identify Kodak Black by name, but the organization did thank everyone who has made a donation to Sepot's family.
“[We are] grateful to everyone who has donated to the Sepot family in memory of Jennifer. Her loss has had an immeasurable and lasting impact on our officers. The generosity by supporters has offered a degree of hope during a time in which support for law enforcement feels to be a waning movement," a statement from the Fort Lauderdale Fraternal Order of Police reads.
This is the latest philanthropic effort Kodak Black has engaged in. Over the years, TMZ reports that the Florida native has raised $5,000 for the Lippman Youth Shelter, offered $100,000 for the families of fallen FBI agents and more than $20,000 for local toy drives. Most recently, he was spotted handing out air condition units in Pompano Beach, Florida. In June, Broward County Commissioner Dale Holness honored the rapper by rebranding June 11 as "Kodak Black Day."
