It Takes Two" Rapper Rob Base Dies
Rob Base, one-half of the iconic duo Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock, has passed away at 59-years-old following a private battle with cancer. In a statement shared on Instagram, his family said, “Rob’s music, energy, and legacy helped shape a generation and brought joy to millions around the world…Thank you for the music, the memories, and the moments that became the soundtrack to our lives” Fellow hip-hop stars including Kid Capri, Fat Joe, and DJ Jazzy Jeff paid tribute in the comments, with Jeff writing, “Rest Well My Brother.” Base rose to fame alongside DJ E-Z Rock in 1988 with hits like "Joy and Pain" and “It Takes Two,” the latter of which became one of hip-hop’s most enduring anthems and was later sampled by artists like Snoop Dogg and The Black Eyed Peas. In recent years, he continued performing on the “I Love the 90’s Tour,” mentoring younger artists through his company, Funky Base, Inc. You can view the post on the right.
