TeeRoy's 2 Cents:
- Before the awards, Post made an Instagram call to action to raise awareness about 21ās situation. That made a lot of folks think he was going to do more.
- Even if he has opposing political views, he should have stood in solidarity with his collaborator.Ā
- The pictures of him wearing the shirt backstage make me wonder if he planned to reveal it on the air and wound up getting cold feet.Ā
- Maybe it was under his jacket but the zipper got stuck.Ā
A week after the Atlanta rapper was arrested by ICE, his āRockstarā collaborator didnāt even make reference to him on stage. Post Malone didnāt say a thing during his five minutes of airtime on Musicās Biggest Night. He apparently wore a āFree 21 Savageā t-shirt backstage, which was only seen in pictures after the fact.Ā
When Swedish musician Ludwig Gorranns son accepted the Record of the Year award on Childish Gambino ās behalf, he was the first to address Savageās situation on air. The camera cut to Posty who was sitting in the crowd, clapping.
According to Savageās co-manager, Grammys producers refused to release tickets to Savageās mom so she could attend the awards on his behalf. Thatās extra awkward considering producers apparently flew Mac Miller ās parents outĀ to be in the crowd. Still, Meezy wrote, āI wonāt blame this on raceā¦ I blame it on lame people being LAME.ā
Before the show, demonstrators outside the Staples Center made aĀ statement by holding up poster boards spelling out āFree 21 Savage.āĀ
