Topless Serena Williams Sings 'I Touch Myself' For Breast Cancer Awareness

We're used to seeing Serena Williams kicking a** on the tennis court, but now we're seeing her take on a whole new competitor: breast cancer. She posted a video to her Instagram account that aims to bring attention to Breast Cancer Awareness month. It will certainly catch her followers' attention: the athlete is topless and singing 'I Touch Myself' as she stares solemnly at the camera. She explained the video in a length caption:

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month Iā€™ve recorded a version of The Divinyls global hit ā€œI Touch Myselfā€ to remind women to self-check regularly. Yes, this put me out of my comfort zone, but I wanted to do it because itā€™s an issue that affects all women of all colors, all around the world. Early detection is key - it saves so many lives. I just hope this helps to remind women of that. The music video is part of the I Touch Myself Project which was created in honor of celebrated diva, Chrissy Amphlett, who passed away from breast cancer, and who gave us her hit song to remind women to put their health first.

According to the I Touch Myself Project, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. As Williams points out, early detection "is key" and that's why it's so important for women to give themselves regular self-examination, as well as frequent doctor visits. Taking these steps will vastly improve a womanā€™s chances of beating breast cancer.

It's wonderful to see Williams using her platform to talk about such important issues. To learn more about the I Touch Myself project, as well as how you can help spread the word about breast cancer awareness, you can visit their website
