ESPN reporter Michelle Beisner-Buck, the wife of Monday Night Football play-by-play man Joe Buck, underwent surgery on a fractured ankle after her husband "accidentally drove a golf ball into it," ESPN colleague Adam Schefter reported on Wednesday (September 11).
"More ESPN injury news: @MichelleBeisner underwent surgery today to repair nerve damage in her fractured ankle that occurred during a freak accident when her husband Joe accidentally drove a golf ball into it, per sources. 'Getting ready to roll back,' Beisner-Buck texted," Schefter wrote on his X account with a photo of Beisner-Buck in a hospital bed giving a thumbs up that included the ESPN "DEVELOPING NEWS" caption.
The couple provided more details in a video shared on Beisner-Buck's Instagram account, revealing that the accident happened on July 7 during a trip to Cabo San Lucas. Beisner-Buck did a handstand on the tee box "for good luck" as her husband attempted his drive.
The reporter underwent six weeks in a hard cast before the surgical procedure on Wednesday.
"When it happened - July 7th," Beisner-Buck wrote. "How it happened, is now explained 🏌🏻♂️🤸♀️. Shattered ankle down to the joint. Six weeks in a hard cast and the bones are healing nicely. But, the 🍒 on top is that the impact of the ball (one helluva drive, babe) also severely damaged my tibial nerve. We’ve tried nerve blocks and lidocaine infusions, but nothing was giving me relief. So today, I’m going under the knife to decompress the nerve in the hopes it speeds up my recovery. Away we go!!!! Gotta just say “it’s life”. And for the “life” of me, I can’t believe this happened. Trust me, neither can Joe, and he is sick about it!! I just can’t wait to get back on my two HEALTHY feet. I cannot wait to run around with my kids. I cannot wait to get back to work. I cannot wait to drive. To dance. To do 🤸♀️. To….All of it. I CAN’T WAIT!!!!"
Beisner and Buck were married in 2014 and share two twin sons, Blake and Wyatt, born in 2018, while Buck has two daughters, Trudy and Natalie, from a previous marriage.
