Rays Get Bounceback Win In Baltimore

The Tampa Bay Rays (24-16) defeated the Baltimore Orioles (16-25) 6-1 on Saturday evening in Baltimore.

Randy Arozarena set the pace early, hitting a two-run homer in the first and a solo shot in the fourth to give the Rays a 3-0 lead. Tampa Bay added two in the sixth and one in the eighth - on a Kevin Kiermaier solo shot - to build a 6-0 lead. Baltimore got one run back in the bottom of the eighth but that would be as close as the O's would get.

Jeffrey Springs (2-1, 1.32) put together a good start, pitching five and two thirds shutout innings in which he allowed just one hit while striking out seven and walking for. From there a combination of Jason Adam, Ralph Garza, Jr, and Colin Poche would close out the win.

The Rays will now look to win the series when the rubber game comes up on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 PM - pregame coverage begins with Neil Solondz hosting This Week In Rays Baseball at 12:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
