Drake Isn't Releasing 'Certified Lover Boy' This Month After All

Heartbreaking news, Drizzy fans: Drake has pushed back the release of his new album, Certified Lover Boy.

Champagne Papi disappointed fans Wednesday night (January 20) when he regrettably announced that his next full-length project will be delayed for release sometime later in 2021.

ā€œI was planning to release my album this month but between surgery and rehab my energy has been dedicated to recovery,ā€ the ā€œGodā€™s Planā€ star wrote, referring to the injury he sustained to his knee last fall. ā€œIā€™m blessed to be back on my feet feeling great and focused on the album, but CLB wonā€™t be dropping in January. Iā€™m looking forward to sharing it with you all in 2021.ā€

Without only a few weeks remaining of the month, fans were rightfully upset by the news.

"What am I supposed to do with my life now?" one user tweeted, as another added, "Year starting off bad man."

Someone else theorized CLB will get a more fitting release date: "Hope he drops on valentines weekend only makes perfect sense to."

Just a week ago, the Canadian rapper shared a video of him working out in the gym just 10 weeks after undergoing surgery for the injury. "10 weeks post op I'm grinding for recovery EVERYDAY," Drake captioned an Instagram Story clip of him performing weight workouts.

Considering Drake hadnā€™t officially revealed on which day CLB was to drop this month, its release date is now even more ambiguous than before.

Little has been heard of the record since last summer when Drake released the LPā€™s lead single, ā€œLaugh Now Cry Laterā€ featuring Lil Durk. However, as far as sound is concerned, anyone who ā€œhatedā€ 2016ā€™s Views will likely not appreciate CLB, as per Drizzyā€™s own words.
